Terms of Service
These terms apply when you use Cadence, the study website and app at this address. Cadence is run by its founders (“we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you have questions, email support@mycadence.co.uk.
1. What Cadence is
Cadence recommends study methods and timings based on your answers, runs a study timer, and tracks the goals you set and how well you meet them. The recommendations are general guidance about studying. They are not professional, educational, medical or psychological advice, and we can’t promise any particular grades or results.
2. Your account
- You need to give a valid email address and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- You must be at least 13 to use Cadence. If you are under 18, please get permission from a parent or guardian before subscribing to a paid plan.
- One person per account, please. Don’t share your login.
3. Free and paid plans
- Free: you can browse the names of every study method.
- Premium adds the decision tree, the study timer and full explanations of every method. It costs £2 a month or £20 a year. Prices include any VAT that applies.
- Free trial: new accounts can try Premium free for 7 days, once per person. No card is needed for the trial, and it simply ends after 7 days unless you choose a paid plan.
4. Payment and renewal
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see your full card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year, and the same card is charged, until you cancel.
- If we ever change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, Premium may be paused until it is paid.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time by logging in and pressing Billing. Your subscription stops renewing and you keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for. We don’t charge cancellation fees.
6. Refunds and your 14-day right to cancel
If you change your mind, email support@mycadence.co.uk within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. After that, payments for periods that have already started are not refundable, except where the law requires it (for example, if the service is faulty). This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
7. Using Cadence fairly
Please don’t misuse the service. For example, don’t try to break or overload it, get around the paywall, access other people’s accounts, or use the results-email feature to send spam. We may suspend or close accounts that do, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Cadence running smoothly but can’t guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may improve or change features over time. If we make a change that significantly reduces what Premium includes, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel and get a refund for any unused paid period.
9. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses, because Cadence is for personal use. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.
10. Your content and data
The goals, notes and results you enter are yours. We use them only to provide Cadence to you, as explained in our Privacy Policy. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
11. Independence
Cadence is an independent project by two students. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Imperial College London or any other university.
12. Changes to these terms and the law that applies
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
